As a fervent advocate of the virtues of whole grain, Mr. Thomas Allinson believed brown bread was “not a luxury, but a necessity.” While a lot has changed over the years, here at Allinson we’re as committed to creating wholesome and tasty bread as we have always been.

As well as the much-loved Wholemeal Batch Loaf, we’re now also baking our Brown Batch with the taste of sourdough.

All Allinson breads are baked with carefully selected ingredients and are free from artificial preservatives.

Storage

Just as in Victorian times, the best way to store bread and rolls is at room temperature and a bread bin is still the ideal place.

It may not be wise to store bread in the refrigerator, except in very warm weather, as this can lead it to stale much sooner than you might like.

Nowadays freezers help keep food fresh for longer and all our bread and rolls can also be stored this way for up to three months.

Waste not want not

Every year in the UK we throw away one third of all the food we buy – most of which could be eaten. Love Food Hate Waste is a campaign from WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) that provides tasty recipes and top tips that helps us cut back on wasting food. Lovefoodhatewaste.com
